The new iPad – 26 hours before the rest of the world
Besides the huge difference in time zones, many Australians wonder what else does the “land down under” get first? Well it was great to see that Australia, as a result of having a big time zone difference to the States was able to release “the new iPad” before any other country.
Los Angeles = UTC/GMT – 8
Melbourne / Sydney = UTC/GMT + 10
We essentially had world first consumer access, which will attract “fan boys” world wide but will also attract some very smart business people. In fact company iFixIt who provide free advice to fix your iProduct plus free guides, flew one of the company founders to line up in Telstra’s midnight launch.
So while Americans (the occupants of the country which Apple hails from) have been playing with their new iPads for approximately 7 hours now from this blog being live we have had access to them for around 33.
Australia – 1
U.S.A – 0
