Hi, I’m male and I use Pinterest
Besides flooding Facebook newsfeeds and pending invites for highly anxious people, the uptake on Pinterest has been quite positive. It’s a simple social network which connects people visually by liking and sharing content found on the web. Sounds like some other social networks, right? Kind of but Pinterest seems to go about the daily tasks you do on Twitter and Facebook with a great amount of style. Instead of you tweeting that next hot item you want, you pin it like you would on a pinboard. The social aspect kicks in as the pinboard you have pinned it on is actually public and people with similar interests may be following it. Pinterest themselves have described their venture as this:
Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. Pinterest allows you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. You can browse pinboards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and share their favorite recipes.
Pinterest’s biggest strength is the ability to create a window into those who you follow. You can see common interests, figure out gift ideas, surprise a loved one with a perfect holiday to their dream destination. So for all the guys reading this, do you now understand why I like and use Pinterest? All in all the digital pin board is a simple idea, but it has been refined, polised and yet still a work in progress. Best of luck to the Pinterest team, you can follow their blog for further updates.
